The unconquered open terrain
spirits the call for
exploration.
It is no paradise,
not to the untrained eye.
An earthen borough
seasoned to shelter
from the daily scorch, and
the nightly chill.
High untouched mountain views
and deep luring gorges;
and if you be still,
I'll open
that you might pursue
the fragrance and color
that lead to paradise.
The fullness of its earth
is harrowed up
and no one tells
who knows,
lest it be trampled and
flogged on the market floors.
The undisclosed fruits
are aptly shared,
the variety of its bounty
permanizes color,
stabilizes intentions
and gilds the fibers
of love.
